Job summary

The post holder will be administratively responsible to the Senior Dental Nurse and ultimately accountable to the Clinical Director for North Wales Community Dental Service. The Dental Nurse will be clinically responsible to the Clinician to whom he/she is assigned.

The post holder will be required to travel within the North Wales Community Dental Service locality, for example clinics, hospitals, schools, domiciliary visits, mobile dental units and to carry out treatment at other sites, for example, nursing homes. Travel expenses will be paid.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Dental nurse to join our dental team who can relate to all age groups and who can assist the clinicians with a full range of dental procedures. Experience of patients with special care is desirable.

As a Qualified Dental Nurse you will be based at The Royal Alexandra Hospital, The successful candidate must be willing to provide dental nursing support in satellite clinics, mobile units, hospital venues and on a domiciliary basis.

The ability to travel between sites in a timely manner is must be registered with the General Dental Council.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential

Current Registered with General Dental Clinic Certification in Dental nursing or Equivalent NVQ

Desirable

Post Certification Extended duties including impression taking, suture removal, duraphat application

Experience

Essential

Recent or Current dental surgery experience Experience of working with children and anxious patients

Desirable

CDS Experience Experience and commitment to Quality and Assurance and Clinical Governance

Personal

Essential

Planning and prioritise/organisation skills Team Player, Able to use initiative in emergency situation

Desirable

PC Literate Stock Control and Ordering Skills

General

Smart and presentable appearance
