We are recruiting for a Community Mental Health Nurse to join our team on a part time basis ( hours per week) based at the Warneford Hospital. You'll provide assessment and evidence-based treatment interventions to a wide range of adults within Oxford and the surrounding areas including Bicester and surrounding villages of Islip, Woodstock, and Kidlington. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop senior clinical and leadership skills within a team committed to the wellbeing and development of all staff.

Working in the beautiful City of Oxford, we focus on the recovery of patients through a multidisciplinary (MDT) approach, with expertise from doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, support workers and psychological therapies staff alongside regular clinical team meetings. We strive to provide person centred evidence-based care to patients, where possible working collaboratively with their families and carers.

Main duties of the job

Work as an autonomous practitioner in the multi-disciplinary teamundertaking specialist nursing assessments in collaboration with the service user and theirfamilies/carers and presenting back to the wider MDT. Work in partnership with service users and their families/carers to ensure the development ofa treatment plan to facilitate their safety, promote their well-being and support theirindependence and inclusion in the community. This may include working closely with partneragencies. Deliver evidence-based interventions following NICE guidelines to promote recovery andrelapse prevention in a variety of settings. Regularly review care and outcomes, supporting service users to complete clinical outcomemeasures and monitoring progress and adapting treatment options as required. Knowledge of common physical health conditions and their management, and an ability tocomplete cardiometabolic assessment

You will be supported by an experienced leadership team from across the professions who facilitate forums for Nursing and Occupational Therapists and hold your development as central. We offer regular supervision and you will be encouraged and supported to undertake any training relevant to your professional development.

The Central Older Adult CMHT main base is at the Warneford Hospital, a stones throw from the centre of Oxford and the dreamy spires along with a satellite base in the market town of Bicester.

The Older Adult CMHT supports adults over 65 yrs of age who experience a wide range of mental health conditions including dementia. We are committed to the person-centred recovery approach in all our clinical work and pride ourselves in offering a high-quality service.

The Central CMHT is a wonderful team to work in and this role offers an opportunity to develop senior clinical and leadership skills. The Management team are committed to the wellbeing and development of the staff working in the team.

Person Specification

Education and Training

Essential

Professional qualification (degree or equivalent) and current valid professional registration. Evidence of continuing professional development since qualification.

Desirable

Post graduate qualifications specifically relating to an appropriate aspect of care or management.

Occupational Experience

Essential

Appropriate experience and a high level of knowledge about community mental health care with older adults. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and an understanding of CMHTs and interdisciplinary working. Understanding and experience of risk management both clinically and operationally. Good understanding of clinical governance and your professional legal responsibilities. Experience of supervising other staff.

Desirable

Good knowledge of community services in the local area. Awareness of National and local policy concerning mental health guidance. Experience of conducting clinical audit and presenting the resulting analyse. Experience of supervising students on placements.

Skills required - IT / Admin

Essential

IT literacy, to include the Microsoft suite of programmes. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

Other Requirements

Essential

Understanding and commitment to work within the Trust policies of data protection, equal opportunities, health & safety, and to meet the diverse needs of patients. Ability to travel around the local area to undertake home visits and visits to hospital and non-hospital sites, and have the capacity to carry equipment relative to your post.
