Job Description:
Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Data & Software Engineer to join our team in Stevenage, England.
This role sits within the Data Engineering group at Stevenage. This group is responsible for supporting spacecraft programmes with their data needs. This involves system level design, development, and verification for on-going European Space Agency (ESA) programmes such as ExoMars Rover, Ariel, Vigil, Forum & Biomass and commercial telecommunication programmes.
The role will involve working in the area of spacecraft data architecture, management and delivery, within the context of overall System Functional Verification on simulated Test Benches and Tests Benches with Hardware in the loop.
SECURITY CLEARANCE:The successful candidate will be subject to SC (Security Check) in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM
- Analyzing Use Cases of engineering domains involved in space programmes
- Developing software (e.g. proto-type & production) solutions for these Use Cases
- Verification & validation of developed software
- Support to main data engineering tooling (including installation and supporting OS administration tasks)
- Support to Data Architects
ABOUT YOU – Your Skills
- Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;
- Degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or related field
- Good working knowledge of Java programming (Java 11 preferred)
- Good working knowledge of working with database technology
- Good working knowledge of Gitlab
- Good working knowledge of Orchestration tools e.g. Docker, Podman
- Intermediate Linux Knowledge, RHEL8 preferred
- Intermediate Computer Network knowledge
- Scripting (bash, Python)
