After successfully securing a £45million investment to fuel our ongoing growth and to further invest in our AI products, we are currently building out our Tech Hub in Belfast - this is a super exciting time to join Napier in Belfast as we expand.

Due to us growing out the team we require another Platform Engineering (DevOps) to join us here at Napier. You will be a crucial part of our engineering team, responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our cloud infrastructure. You will work on building, automating, and managing our cloud-based infrastructure on Azure and then as we migrate to GCP, using Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm, to support our powerful, flexible financial crime detection engine. Your role will also involve implementing CI/CD pipelines, managing Kafka clusters, and ensuring our systems are highly available and resilient. 

You will be a key player in our Agile environment, collaborating closely with software engineers, data scientists, product owners, and other stakeholders to define and implement best practices for infrastructure and application delivery. Your expertise will help shape the future of Napier’s technical architecture and drive continuous improvement across our platform. 


What you'll be doing: DevOps Engineer

  • Infrastructure Automation:Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure using Terraform, ensuring alignment with best practices for infrastructure as code (IaC). 
  • Kubernetes Management:Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters, implementing best practices for container orchestration, deployment, and monitoring. 
  • CI/CD Pipelines:Develop, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the software delivery process, ensuring quick and reliable deployments. 
  • Cloud Management:Oversee deployments on Azure and/or GCP, ensuring cost-effective and high-performance cloud infrastructure. 
  • Collaboration:Work closely with development teams to ensure smooth integration between development and operations, promoting DevOps best practices and a culture of continuous improvement. 
  • Monitoring & Alerting:Implement and manage comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry. 
  • Technical Leadership:Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a high-performance environment and ensuring adherence to best practices in DevOps and SRE


Do you have what it takes?

  • 4-7 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or a related role, with a strong focus on cloud-based microservices architecture. 
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and/or GCP, with relevant certifications being highly desirable. 
  • Some experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation.
  • Deep expertise in Kubernetes, including package management with Helm. 
  • Strong experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies, including Trunk Based Development 
Skills: 
  • Strong Linux and BASH experience 
  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Python or Go.  
  • In-depth knowledge of containerization technologies, particularly Docker. 
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and best practices. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex functional and performance issues. 
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team. 
  • Familiarity with modern observability tools and techniques, including Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry. 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD). 
  • Azure or GCP certifications. 
  • Experience with additional technologies such as Keycloak, ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL or ETL tools. 
  • Familiarity with performance engineering principles and tools. 
  • Strong interest in AI and Data Science, with a desire to learn and apply these in solving real-world problems.

Interview Process;
1. 30 minute Video Talent screening.
2. 45 minute Video call with Hiring Manager. 
3. 30 minute Video call with Staff Platform Engineer.
4. 30 minute Video call with the CTO.
