Job Description

What will you be doing? 

As a Cost Engineer,you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping cost-effective strategies for key vehicle components, including Powertrain, Chassis, Body, and Propulsion systems. Leveraging your expertise in automotive cost engineering, you will develop and provide robust, directional “Should Costs” to drive cost optimization and ensure financial targets are met .

Your main responsibilities will be: 

• Develop Detailed Cost Estimates: Deliver thorough and precise “Should Cost” analyses across Chassis, Body, and Propulsion components to inform budgeting and financial planning.
• Lead Cost-Saving Initiatives: Spearhead initiatives within the supply chain to identify and implement commodity cost-saving opportunities.
• Supplier Selection and Strategy: Actively participate in supplier selection, strategy planning, and negotiate both commercially and technically to ensure cost targets and savings are achieved.
• Collaborate with Product Development: Partner with Product Development teams to provide Design-for-Manufacture/Cost insights, facilitating informed decisions for optimized product design and cost efficiency.
• Advise on Design Changes: Offer insights on the cost impact of design changes, helping to steer development toward financially sound solutions.

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

• Proven experience in cost engineering within the automotive industry, specifically in Powertrain, Chassis, Body, and Propulsion components.
• Strong understanding of Design-for-Manufacture principles and cost estimation.
• Expertise in supplier negotiations and familiarity with supply chain dynamics.
