Controls Engineer – Coventry, UK

Are you an experienced Controls Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation and measurement solutions? My client is seeking a skilled professional to join their design team in Coventry, developing innovative control systems for industries such as Aerospace, Automotive, and Orthopaedics.

As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical and control systems for bespoke automation projects. You will work closely with Mechanical Design Engineers, Technicians, and the Controls Manager, taking projects from concept through to testing and final delivery.

Key Responsibilities for the Controls Engineer job:

  • Develop PLC software using Siemens TIA Portal

  • Design electrical systems and layouts using ePlan

  • Create Windows-based software in C++ for system integration

  • Interpret customer requirements and develop innovative control solutions

  • Support system assembly, wiring, and testing

  • Assist with fault-finding and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems

    Key Skills & Requirements for the Controls Engineer job:

  • HND/Degree in a relevant engineering discipline

  • Experience in Software design (PLC or Windows)

  • Background in electrical design

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
