Our client, a prominent player in the aerospace industry, is seeking a dedicated Commodity Manager to join their team. This permanent position offers a unique opportunity to manage and coordinate purchases for various commodities, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting, acquiring validation, and deploying targeted purchasing policies for multiple commodities
Ensuring the attainment of objectives in terms of gains and expected service levels
Coordinating actions with concerned buyers of other companies when mandated
Leading communication about purchasing policies under your responsibility
Acting as an approver, expert, and key contact for your commodity
Fostering and maintaining a UK-wide network within your commodityAdditional Responsibilities:

Collaborating within the Purchasing Team to support business strategy
Defining purchasing strategies for assigned categories
Implementing the Supplier Tendering and Selection process
Negotiating and drawing up contracts with selected suppliers
Managing supplier relationships, including validating chosen solutions, steering improvement plans, consolidating assessments, and ensuring compliance with obligations and standards
Maintaining up-to-date purchase data and proactively dealing with disputes
Supporting the development of customer needs and promoting best practices with suppliers
Complying with procurement budgets and purchase processesJob Requirements:

Understanding of purchasing methodologies and processes
Proficiency in written and spoken English
Strong numerical skills
Highly organised with a structured approach and able to work on your own initiative
Focused, task-oriented, and resilient to complete tasks in full
Good communication, listening, and negotiation abilities
Knowledge of the technical environment within the aerospace industry
Knowledge of Industrial and Purchasing policies and legal knowledge (contracts)
Familiarity with Lean-Sigma tools
Previous experience within a purchasing team using purchasing information systems
CIPS qualifications at Level 4+ (or willingness to complete)
Educated to Degree Level, preferably in a business field (or equivalent)Desirable Skills:

Project Management qualification and experience
Previous Customer Service Training qualificationTravel Specificity:

Substantial travel across UK sites and potential supplier sites may be required on an ad hoc basis.
