Job Description Summary

GE Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented engineer to join our team as an Avionics Software Systems Engineer, in the domain of rotorcraft Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS). In this role, you will be responsible for defining requirements, supporting integration activities, and performing verification tasks for avionics software systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and reliable software solutions that meet stringent aerospace standards

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Define and document software requirements based on system-level needs and customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of requirements and design.
  • Support software integration activities, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Develop and execute verification plans, test cases, and procedures to ensure compliance with requirements and industry standards.
  • Analyze test results and provide detailed reports to stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) principles in all activities.
  • Maintain compliance with aerospace regulations and standards, such as DO-178C.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge and experience in systems or aerospace engineering
    • Professional Experience: At least 4 years of experience in application of industry-recognised system engineering processes, ideally related to embedded software development, with working experience in DOORS, Python and SQLite or equivalent tooling.
      Strong oral and written communication skills, with confidence and ability to work as part of a globally-distributed customers and teams
      • Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve challenging technical problems.


    Desired Characteristics
    • Knowledge and experience in Avionics Integration and associated certification requirements
    • Knowledge and experience in automated test techniques, Python, and SQLite
    • Knowledge and experience of requirements management and verification to recognised systems engineering process such as ARP4754
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, coupled with excellent oral and written communication abilities, are essential for this role. The ability to work with global virtual teams is particularly valued.
