Our Financial Transformation practice is a priority area for significant and strategic growth. We work with leading corporate clients, focusing on understanding the core issues and opportunities to deliver value-adding change across their finance functions. The key drivers of change for our clients are: technology implementations, an ambition to be more efficient and effective, and a desire to progress along the maturity curve. We are a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, working together with technology focussed professionals to deliver KPMG Powered Enterprise though a standardised delivery model, which drives professional delivery to clients.

The role will sit within our Finance Transformation team which brings together consulting professionals with a background in implementing change in finance functions for large corporate clients. The team works with clients to improve the operating efficiency and effectiveness of their finance functions, often with improvements to their underlying technology solutions. We aim to take out clients’ finance functions beyond being “score keepers” and instead positioning finance as the “co-pilot” to the business, at the centre of driving growth and decision making.
Applicants should have prior experience in a large corporate, as well as in-depth knowledge of finance processes and technology. They should also be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out the following activities:

Engagement delivery:
• Work as part of a diverse project team including both KPMG and client colleagues to deliver finance transformation engagements
• Build positive and collaborative relationships with KPMG and client resources
• Help identify performance improvement opportunities for clients
• Lead and manage work-streams of a small to medium size and complexity (including analysing and interpreting data, drafting report findings and attending client meetings)

Business development:

• Work with bid teams to respond to client RFPs, and showcase KPMG’s capabilities in response to a client need
• Contribute to the establishment and development of both internal and external relationships
• Support the business development activity of senior members of the team (including shaping, developing, contributing to and presenting proposals/ bids for future work)

People development:
• Supervise, coach and review the work performed by analysts and interns on engagements
• Monitoring and supporting team members and accelerating their development with a particular emphasis on coaching and skills transfer
• Participate in skills training, knowledge sharing and networking activities with the team and the wider KPMG community
• Facilitate collaborative and fulfilling working environments for the Client and KPMG staff on engagements

Practice development:
• Support building of KPMG’s suite of methodologies and intellectual property to develop our Finance Transformation offering
• Support senior management with internal operational responsibilities for the team such as budgeting and planning
• Support the management and leadership in developing innovative and Client-focused go-to-market propositions

Our Finance Transformation offering looks across the finance function, implementing change to improve all layers of the operating model.

Successful candidates should have:

• 3 or more years experience in the finance function of leading corporate companies, or client facing audit or consulting experience at a professional services firm
• A strong understanding of the operating model of a finance function including systems, data, processes, and governance
• Track record of operating in a finance project environment and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to achieve transformation and business outcomes
• An understanding of the challenges and opportunities for finance functions at large, corporate entities

Core skills and experience:
• Project management experience and the ability to organise and prioritise your own work to meet project requirements
• Proven track record of delivering high quality outputs on time, and exceeding expectations
• Ability to interpret data, generate insights and construct solutions
• Good communicator with the ability to build strong and lasting internal and client relationships
• Relevant finance qualification – ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent
• Relevant experience at a leading corporate company in one or more of the following sectors: aerospace & defence, consumer markets, energy & natural resources, industrial manufacturing, leisure, life sciences, retail, technology, media & telecommunications

Additional skills and experience (preferred):
• Prior client facing consulting or audit experience
• Experience of enterprise software deployments
• Management of a team, including allocating tasks, reviewing outputs, and performance management

The person:
• Recognises the importance of continuous self and team development and actively strives to achieve this.
• Evidence of being an active listener, strong team player and willingness to develop new skills and capabilities
• Helps others to understand how their work contributes to the overall success of an engagement and the wider firm
• Flexibility to travel

How Many Space Industry Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a UK Space Job?

If you’re pursuing a career in the space industry — whether that’s spacecraft engineering, mission operations, space software, satellite systems, ground segment integration or space data analytics — it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of tools, platforms and technologies mentioned in job adverts. One role wants experience with CAD and FEA software. Another asks for experience with GNSS simulation. A third mentions mission scheduling tools, RF link analysis suites, Python, C++, continuous integration — and it seems there’s always another acronym to learn. With so much listed, many candidates fall into the trap of thinking they must master every tool under the sun before they’ll be taken seriously. Here’s the honest truth most UK space hiring managers won’t say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you’ve heard of every tool — they hire you because you can apply the right tools to solve real space problems, explain your reasoning clearly, and deliver results. Tools matter, but they always serve a purpose: achieving mission goals, improving reliability, reducing risk, delivering data, or enabling collaboration. Tools are enablers — not trophies. So how many tools do you actually need to know to get a space job? The answer is much fewer and far more strategic than you might think. This article breaks down: what tools employers really expect which ones are core across most space roles which ones are role-specific how to present your tool proficiency on your CV and in interviews

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Space Sector Job Applications (UK Guide)

The space industry is one of the most exciting and multidisciplinary sectors in technology and engineering today. Whether you’re applying for roles in spacecraft design, aerospace systems, robotics, satellite communications, mission operations, payload engineering, space software, ground systems, or scientific research, your application must quickly show hiring managers that you are relevant, technically credible and ready to deliver. In the UK space jobs market — spanning organisations from startups to defence primes, agencies, research labs and commercial constellations — hiring managers do not read every word of your CV. They scan applications rapidly, often making a judgement about whether to read further within the first 10–20 seconds. This guide breaks down exactly what hiring managers look for first in space sector applications, how they assess CVs and portfolios, why specific signals matter, and how you can position your experience to stand out on www.ukspacejobs.co.uk .

The Skills Gap in UK Space Jobs: What Universities Aren’t Teaching

The UK space sector is one of the most exciting and fastest-growing high-tech industries in the world. From Earth observation and satellite communications to space robotics, launch systems and deep-space exploration, the breadth of opportunity is enormous. The UK Government’s ambition to capture a significant share of the global space economy has driven investment, policy support and a wave of innovative companies — both established and start-up. Yet despite strong academic programmes and a pipeline of graduates with relevant degrees, employers in the UK space sector consistently report a persistent problem: Many graduates are not prepared for real-world space industry jobs. This is not a matter of intelligence or motivation. Rather, it reflects a growing skills gap between what universities are teaching and what employers actually need from space professionals. In this article, we’ll explore why that gap exists, what universities are doing well, where they fall short, what employers want, and how jobseekers can bridge the divide to build thriving careers in the UK space sector.
