Are you a passionate engineer looking to explore the potentials of GNC avionics or Attitude and Orbit Control Systems?
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.​

If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including: ​identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service)​

Your role
This position is to provide engineering support to a team of exploration rover control engineers.
The role will involve design, development and test of algorithm prototype code (adhering to a defined coding standard for the team) and also support tools (post processing, CI server, test harness etc.) which may be permitted to deviate from the coding standard, if justified. Testing is using both a custom simulator in the team's SDE and also on hardware and outdoors (e.g. in the car park) for larger distance tests. The successful candidate will be expected to support merge reviews for the less experienced engineers (in terms of software experience), as part of the team's sprint process.

Your skills and experience​
languages/technologies primarily: Linux, Python, C, cmake, bash, scripting, some C++ (but not too much) CI (Cont. Integration), git, GitLab, Confluence, Jira, agile
o Development environment: vscode + some useful extensions
o Bonus points if you will have: HW integration, basic electronics, networking, basic knowledge about cameras. Filtering/estimation
o Mathematical modelling: Should be able to build a model in Matlab/Simulink
o Having participated in a GNC/AOCS project at some point of the development and validation cycle.
o Programming skills:
Essential
• General computer literacy, including MS Office
• Basic Linux knowledge
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with very good
• Matlab and Simulink.
Desirable
• C language or a similar programming experience. with very good team working skills
• Basic knowledge on version control
• Experience with Jira / Confluence

Your security clearance ​
To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks. ​
There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.​
There are other criteria and checks required for BPSS, and throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
