Hours: Mon–Thurs: 08:30–17:00 / Fri: 08:30–13:00
Location: Onsite, Newcastle office

    Job Description:

    As an Accounts Assistant, you will:

  • Play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial transactions to support timely management reporting.

  • You’ll work across various finance areas, from accounts receivable and payable to VAT and audit support, while also contributing to process improvement and automation initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage AR invoicing and credit control activities.

  • Process supplier invoices, resolve queries, and prepare payment runs.

  • Support monthly balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting.

  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns for review and submission.

  • Assist with internal and external audits through data gathering and validation.

  • Reconcile and post company credit card expenses.

  • Maintain and improve records management, exploring opportunities to digitise processes.

  • Support financial close activities, including fixed assets, leases, and inventory.

  • Provide ad hoc financial support to the wider finance team.

  • Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives.

    Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar finance role.

  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger processes.

  • Experience with ERP systems and an interest in automation or process improvement.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other finance-related software.
