About the Opportunity
Our client is a specialist technical services organisation providing calibration, testing, inspection, and compliance solutions to customers operating in highly regulated industries. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint aTrainee Calibration Engineer to join their team based in Bridport.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an electrical or mechanical background who is keen to develop a specialist engineering career. Full training will be provided through a structured 12-month development programme, leading to competency in calibration and inspection services across a wide range of precision equipment.

The role combines laboratory-based work with regular travel to customer sites across the UK, offering variety, technical development, and hands-on experience.

The Role
As a Trainee Calibration Engineer, you will support the calibration, testing, and repair of equipment used within sectors including aerospace, pharmaceutical, engineering, healthcare, and manufacturing.
Working alongside experienced engineers, you will receive comprehensive on-the-job training while developing the technical skills required to carry out calibrations both in the laboratory and at customer locations.

This position involves regular travel throughout the UK and would suit someone who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities Calibration & Technical Activities
  • Assist with the calibration and repair of a wide range of precision instruments and equipment
  • Carry out laboratory-based calibration activities following established procedures
  • Support onsite calibration and testing activities at customer premises
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with quality and accreditation standards
  • Complete technical assessments and training milestones throughout the development programme
Customer Site Visits
  • Travel to customer locations across the UK to support calibration services
  • Represent the business professionally whilst working on customer premises
  • Build positive working relationships with customers during site visits
  • Participate in occasional overnight stays where required
Operational & Administrative Support
  • Utilise mobile technology and company systems to manage work records and communications
  • Maintain accurate job documentation and service records
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure projects are completed on schedule
  • Support wider operational activities as required

About You Core Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Keen interest in engineering, calibration, or technical services
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year's experience within an electrical, mechanical, engineering, maintenance, or similar technical role
  • Previous calibration, inspection, or testing experience would be advantageous but is not essential
Licence Requirements
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
  • Right to work in the UK
