Job Title:Product Owner-Innovation (Edgewing)

Location: Reading area. The role could be contracted to any BAE Systems Air site (preferably Frimley) but on commencement will immediately be assigned to our Edgewing JV in the Reading area. A financial support package may be available to enable this assignment if required, dependent on certain criteria being met. There is a Hybrid Working Policy in place at Edgewing – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role.

Job Description:

The roleleads innovation within the data engineering domain by defining the future-state data architecture, enabling data integration across engineering tools and ERP environments, and establishing the foundational infrastructure for data governance tooling and data transfer capabilities. The Product Owner ensures that innovation work is translated into a coherent, prioritised, and user-centred product vision that supports reliable delivery, cross-functional alignment, and data-driven decision-making.

Core duties:

  • Own and continuously shape the innovation backlog, prioritising initiatives based on strategic impact, technical feasibility, and evolving data platform needs
  • Translate emerging data architecture concepts, integration requirements, and innovation opportunities into clear, user-focused product requirements
  • Act as the key interface between data engineering, digital delivery teams, and business stakeholders to drive alignment, clarity, and shared priorities
  • Use data-driven insights and evidence-based decision making to prioritise initiatives, refine scope, validate solutions, and evolve the innovation roadmap
  • Ensure new data platform capabilities deliver high standards of usability, integration quality, data lineage, and end-to-end lifecycle visibility

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience in Defence or other highly regulated industry
  • Confirmed technical leadership background
  • Considerable familiarity with the full data and analytics technology stack (cloud, private cloud, data warehousing), agnostic to vendor (Amazon, Microsoft, Google).
