CNC Machinist Programmer

A skilled CNC Machinist Programmer is required for an aerospace precision engineering role involving programming, setting and operating CNC machinery to produce high-quality components.

SALARY:Day Shift: £15.50 per Hour / Night Shift: £20.15 per Hour + Overtime (at Time and a Half) + Benefits

LOCATION:Preston, Lancashire, North West England

As the company continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist Programmer to join their skilled and dedicated manufacturing team.

Working within an established aerospace and precision engineering environment, the CNC Machinist Programmer will programme, set and operate CNC machines while maintaining excellent quality assurance, safety and production standards.

DUTIES

Your duties as the CNC Machinist Programmer include:

  • CNC Programming: Programme and set CNC machine tools using company production and process documentation
  • Machine Setting: Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision-engineered aerospace components
  • Technical Drawings: Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Quality Inspection: Carry out first-off inspections and self-inspection activities to ensure products meet technical requirements
  • Documentation: Complete production and quality documentation accurately
  • Production Support: Support production planning activities to maximise machine utilisation and efficiency
  • Material Handling: Operate FLT and overhead crane equipment to load and unload materials
  • Machine Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain high housekeeping standards
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with Health and Safety procedures and company policies

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • CNC Machining Experience: Previous experience operating and setting CNC machines within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment
  • Multi-Axis Knowledge: Experience working with 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machines
  • Controls Experience: Experience using Heidenhain controls
  • Engineering Drawings: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Quality Focus: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
  • Problem Solving: Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work through technical challenges
  • Teamwork: Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Qualifications: Recognised engineering apprenticeship with a minimum City and Guilds or NVQ qualification in Mechanical Engineering

DESIRABLE

  • HNC Qualification: HNC qualification or equivalent engineering training
  • Aerospace Background: Experience within aerospace manufacturing or a highly regulated precision engineering environment
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactive approach with the confidence to contribute ideas and support improvements
