CAD Engineer

Our client, a long-established precision engineering business, is has an exciting opportunity for a CAD Engineer who’s looking to build on their existing skills and take the next step in their career within their team in Bristol. This is a great opportunity to work within the aerospace sector, supporting high-quality manufacturing through innovative tooling and CAD design.

What you will be doing:

  • Creating 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings for customer products, tooling, and fixtures using SolidWorks.

  • Designing and developing jigs, fixtures, and tooling to support machining, assembly, inspection, and testing processes.

  • Collaborating with production, design, and quality teams to ensure tooling and documentation meet operational and technical requirements.

  • Managing customer product data and revision control in accordance with company and AS9100 standards.

  • Supporting process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce variation, and ensure Right First-Time production.

    What experience you need:

  • Proven experience as a CAD Engineer, Tooling Engineer, or Design Engineer within aerospace, manufacturing, or precision engineering.

  • Strong knowledge of CAD software, ideally SolidWorks.

  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Familiarity with CNC machining, assembly processes, and aerospace-grade materials.

  • HNC in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent experience).

    Advantageous Experience (Not Essential):

  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies to drive process efficiency.

  • Skilled in identifying issues, analysing root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
