Job Title: Workshop Manager

Hours: 37.5hrs – to be completed within 06:00-17:00 Mon-Fri
Pay: £50,000+ (Salary negotiable)
Founded in 2004, our client is a small company developing specialist temperature and humidity calibration systems.
Designed and built in the UK, their products are sold worldwide through close partnerships with their sales and distribution partners – they are used in many sectors including manufacturing, food, pharmaceutical, and aerospace.
JOB: Workshop manager
An exciting role, working closely with Design and Production Engineers to develop and improve our inhouse workshop capability.
The candidate will oversee workshop activities to effectively manage the production and prototyping workflow, providing feedback and advice to support New Product Development (NPD). They will be expected to undertake various manufacturing tasks as required, including learning or developing new manufacturing processes involving specialist equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
⦁ Mange and oversee all workshop orations to deliver high quality components/assemblies on time.
⦁ Program, set and run manual and CNC machines.
⦁ Uphold general health and safety standards, and implement improvements as required to encourage others to be accountable for upholding their own standards.
⦁ Aid and help in the progression of workshop staff. Currently 1 trainee and 1 senior.
⦁ Plan and schedule machine maintenance and servicing.
⦁ Monitor material levels and tooling requirements and communicate with those responsible for placing orders.
⦁ Communicate with Design/Production Engineers to:
⦁ Provide part/assembly ‘design for manufacture’ advice and contribute to quality of drawing standards.
⦁ Keep on track with deliverables, highlight any issues and possible cause of delay.
⦁ Improve organisation, production and manufacturing processes, and measurement techniques
⦁ Contribute to development of QMS (Quality Management System), specifically inspection and other quality metrics related to manufacturing.
⦁ Aid in creation of operation process sheets and notify of any updates or changes.
⦁ Assess general machinery and make suggestions on new machinery to grow with company needs.
REQUIREMENTS
⦁ CAD experience necessary: SolidWorks desirable; Fusion 360 useful.
⦁ Familiarity with windows and MS Office applications (word, excel, outlook) essential. Experience with SolidWorks PDM desirable
⦁ Tool setting and path generation directly on machine (G & conversational) & offline (HSMWorks/Fusion360 desirable).
⦁ Ability to work with a variety of materials, predominantly stainless steel, non-ferrous metals & engineering polymers.
⦁ Fluency with technical drawings, specifications and standards.
⦁ Delivery of high tolerances (better than ISO Fine) and very high-quality surface finishes (better than Ra 0.4).
⦁ Design and manufacture of jigging, tooling & work holding.
⦁ Fluency with hand tools & processes.
⦁ QC, inspection & documentation.
