Principal Power Electronics Engineer – Aerospace

We are partnering with a leading aerospace and defence company who are seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to join their team on a remote basis.


This role will be responsible for overseeing all matters related to UK Export control and Trade Compliance within the business.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that record keeping follows specific guidelines to comply with HMRC and DIT regulations.
  • Handling re-exports of imported items that are under customs control to make sure liabilities can be discharged.
  • Collaborate with project teams and departments to ensure that data management and export control aspects of equipment and technology (including data) are correctly managed in accordance with UK and foreign export authorisations.
  • Assist with the planning of internal and external audits of trade compliance and export control issues.
  • Offer project teams advice and direction to ensure adherence to internal corporate policies and procedures as well as UK Export Control legislation.
  • UK export licensing submission to make sure UK export licences match the requirements of the business.
  • Ensure export control ratings and commodity list classification (CLC) are in place to facilitate compliance with UK export laws.
  • Make sure that imported products are processed correctly in compliance with the applicable Customs Authorizations, including maintaining the necessary records and reporting to HMRC on a regular basis.
  • Promptly provide freight agents with import clearance instructions to enable quick customs clearance and delivery of the items to the company.
  • To guarantee compliance with HMRC laws, process internal reports and make sure record keeping is completed.
  • Process export notifications and requests, providing the business with correct export documentation in an efficient and timely manner, appointing appropriate Export licences and customs procedures within SAP.
  • Provide export clearance documentation and instructions to the Shipping team.


Skills Required:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience within export control/ trade compliance.
  • Detailed knowledge of UK Export Licencing, including Trade Controls.
  • Good working knowledge of foreign import / export regulations, particularly EU and US ITAR/ EAR.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK/EU Customs regulations.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Experience with SAP is desirable.
  • Understanding of trade compliance considerations for international support programmes within the aerospace and defence industry.
