To be able to support our business in the region, we are looking to hireEMEA Trade Compliance Specialist.You will ensure compliance and consistency with Quaker Houghton policies, processes and regulatory requirements within the import and export operations. You will lead trade compliance improvement projects for the region and join in the goal to continue to do great things together! Are you up for the challenge?



What will you do ?


  • You will support the global organization regarding trade compliance activities and/or questions,
  • Possess and build on knowledge of our company chemistries and products to apply regulations correctly, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders (brokers, suppliers, customers, government agencies, etc.) productively regarding those determinations,
  • Ongoing development of regulatory knowledge supporting thorough research and analysis of the existing and evolving regulations of trade compliance and beneficial trade programs
  • Support the Global Trade Compliance Manager to ensure the organization operates within the requirements of local legislation. You will be responsible for supporting the business in meeting these requirements.
  • Determine correct customs reference and maintains data in the ERP system (HS/CN import and export codes, Origin, Dual Use, etc.); ensure consistent global categorization as well as understanding exception circumstances
  • Support the Global Trade Compliance Manager with set up and/or maintenance, implantation and enforcement of customs and policies
  • Analyze trade activities with the expectation of identifying opportunities with an ongoing focus of continuous improvement.

What are we looking for?


Experience: At least 3 years in the customs/excise environment in roles such as customs broker, export department, etc. in order to provide understanding of international trade lanes and customs and Excise Legislation. Ideally within the chemical industry.


  • Knowledge of international trade nomenclatures (WTO, WCO, EU Taric, harmonized tariff; export as well as import).
  • Knowledge of appropriate legislation and sources: EU customs and Excise Legislation, EU/US sanction legislations and trade documentation and dangerous goods.
  • ERP systems user



Education: Bachelor's degree is a must. License of Customs Declarant or equivalent.


Language:English language skills; written and spoken at high level.


Soft skills: Autonomous, hands-on & proactive. Great influencing and communication skills. Good practical problem solving with acute attention to detail. Strong team player, passionate about delivering success.
