Our premium brand Automotive client is currently recruiting for the following role:

Test Facilities Engineer - Automotive - £27.21/hr (Inside IR35) - Coventry / Hybrid potential - 9 Months

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:

  • Proven experience and understanding of automotive Test facilities, processes, equipment, and leading technologies
  • Experience in automotive testing (e.g. powertrain, infotainment, ADAS, EV systems).
  • Familiarity with automotive standards and protocols (e.g., ISO 26262, CAN, LIN, AUTOSAR).
  • Proficiency in using test tools and data acquisition systems (e.g., Vector tools, NI LabVIEW, INCA).
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to validate, understand and explain engineering documents to others
  • Clear and confident communicator both orally and in writing
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes
  • Ability to accurately and concisely present complex issues to a diverse audience
  • Proven experience participating in problem solving analysis to investigate and resolve engineering problems
  • Ability to use project management tools
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office Suite to produce plans, reports, presentations, graphs, processes, and SPL documents

    Desirable:
  • A Level 7 qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline
  • Proven experience in leading a team through a complex engineering problem analysis; Relevant qualifications are Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt trained and certified
  • Experience of health and safety regulations, reporting and monitoring compliance
  • Proven experience with audits such as IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 and its quality standards and requirements
  • Proven experience in mentoring and training others

    Education:
    A Level 6 qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.

    Key Performance Indicators
  • Deliver testing activities in line with agreed project plans and complexity.
  • Maximize utilization of test assets against defined targets.
  • Monitor and report on customer satisfaction through structured feedback mechanisms.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the team and testing processes.
  • Track and report time savings and efficiency gains from implemented improvements.
  • Provide data-driven reports demonstrating the effectiveness and efficiency of test equipment.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal engineering operations (EO) processes.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through quality and timely delivery.

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Be a point of contact for our internal customers, liaising with key stakeholders to gather testing requirements and inputs according to process for the assign project.
  • Work in unison with Testbed operators to co-ordinate project tasks and ensure timely delivery of agreed test plan.
  • Ensure all inputs to KPIs are reported in a timely and structure way to demonstrate the project performance against the Business's ambition. Identify dependencies early and work to resolve them so they don't become obstacles to the success of the project.
  • Ensure equipment, instrumentation, test plan, test scripts, software and calibrations are ready to enable the delivery of quality data.
  • Showcase best practices for methodology, providing support and guidance on automation and measurement systems.
  • Review customer test plans against existing capability and work with our advanced automation team to build and develop a library of validated test cases.
  • Responsible for commissioning new systems along with issue routing and problem solving of existing systems.
  • Support commissioning and sign-off of new test facilities and equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement projects to ensure the team is constantly developing, striving for high quality and efficient output.
  • Write processes and promote standardization of methods. Ensure processes are regularly reviewed, updated and maintained. To support all activities that result in a positive outcome from any audit, e.g. IATF 16949, ISO 45001, ISO 14001.
  • Research emerging technologies and state of the art methodology, link their usage to the test environment and propose delivery solutions.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time.

    This role is on a contract basis and is Inside IR35.
