We are seeking a full-timeAvionics Installation Team Leaderin our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising a team responsible for the installation and conformity aspects of components and systems at the aircraft level.

Essential Functions

  1. Assist the Manager of Avionics Installation in managing associates assigned to the installation team within the Aircraft Certification Group, including scheduling and resource allocation for multiple aircraft installation projects.
  2. Lead and perform avionics installation activities as a working Team Lead.
  3. Evaluate project status continuously to identify resource shortages or unmet objectives, and collaborate with other Team Leads/Manager to reassign or reallocate resources to keep projects on track.
  4. Oversee avionics installation/repair efforts supporting Garmin project development and certification goals.
  5. Review and provide feedback on certification project proposals and participate in product development and certification planning.
  6. Mentor and train Avionics Technicians to enhance skills and capabilities.
  7. Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering OR a minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
  2. Strong academic record, with a GPA generally of 3.0 or higher.
  3. FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic certificate or FAA Repairman Certificate (must provide documentation).
  4. At least 10 years of experience installing commercial avionics systems relevant to Garmin’s business needs.
  5. Minimum of 3 years experience installing avionics in a certification and development environment similar to Garmin’s.
  6. Experience supervising groups in an aviation maintenance organization.
  7. Knowledge of the FAA conformity process.
  8. At least 2 years supporting aircraft flight test programs.
  9. Proficiency with IBM PC and Microsoft Office products.
  10. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  11. Positive, detail-oriented, organized, analytical, team-oriented, and a proactive problem solver capable of multitasking and leading in a fast-paced environment.
  12. Physical ability to bend, twist, lift up to 50 lbs. routinely, team lift up to 100 lbs., push/pull up to 200 lbs., and work in confined spaces and at heights.
  13. Tolerance for working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.

Desired Qualifications

  1. FAA Inspection Authorization.
  2. Experience managing an FAA 14 CFR 145 Repair Station.
  3. Experience with flight control installations.
  4. Established working relationship with the FAA.
  5. Pilot License.
