We currently have an exciting opportunity for talented and experienced Systems Performance Engineer, who has come from a Mathematical Modelling background, who will provide performance prediction and analysis expertise to major defence programmes, developing the latest complex capabilities for the UK Armed Forces in response to advanced threats in all domains (Air, Land, Sea). You will be joining a world class technical engineering company based in Bristol.

The opportunity:

The role of a System Performance Engineer is to carry out technical studies on system performance. Performance studies use models of the system to estimate key performance indicators.

The System Performance Engineer will:

  • Plan and conduct technical studies into system performance, using complex mathematical models, to help the project and understand key system design choices

  • Develop a good understanding of how the wider system affects performance and the knock-on impacts of changes to the design

  • Work with SMEs in other technical departments to understand how each of these contribute to system performance

  • Report performance data in a clear and concise way in internal design reviews and external performance statements to customers

      Skills and qualifications required from the following:

  • Ideally a Degree or Masters in an Engineering, Mathematics or Science related subject.

  • An enthusiasm for any of the following:

    • Use of mathematical models to assess system behaviour

    • Data analysis using MATLAB and Simulink (or similar)

    • Capturing and presenting technical data in a clear and concise for expert and non-expert audiences

    • Exposure to the physical principles of aerodynamics, propulsion, guidance and control
