The Role

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer with a background in defence or aerospace, ideally with expertise in training development to join our client, a leading UK-based technology and engineering firm.

The successful candidate will work across various engineering processes, including requirements management, system design, interface management, integration, verification, validation, and product qualification. You will need experience in specifying requirements, creating statements of work, and overseeing complex projects through to completion.

This role requires flexibility, as some tasks will involve working within internal teams to develop procurement strategies, while other assignments may involve managing subcontractors in detailed design and development work.

This hybrid role involves approximately 20% on-site work, either at one of our company locations or client sites, depending on project needs.

Main Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Training Solution Delivery Lead to define work packages and technical requirements.
  • Contribute to the execution and delivery of key projects.
  • Support product specification, qualification, and procurement processes for training systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including specialists in requirements, testing, architecture, and support.
  • Engage in problem-solving and contribute to system performance improvement.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Support bid responses during pre-qualification and tender stages.
  • Perform systems analysis, technical design reviews, and oversight.
  • Address client questions and requests, ensuring high-quality service and solutions.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field with at least 7 years of related experience.
  • Expertise in systems engineering processes, ideally across all phases of the V-model.
  • Familiarity with engineering technical standards and best practices.
  • Proficiency in writing scopes of work and setting acceptance criteria.
  • Knowledge of Systems of Systems development.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence), Dimension RM, and DOORS.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management tools.
  • Security clearance eligibility.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Desirable:

  • Experience with training devices.
  • Knowledge of Agile/SCRUM/DevOps models.
  • Awareness of NAFv4 and/or TOGAF frameworks.
