Apricus Resourcing are working with an award winning supplier as they are on the lookout for a dedicated substance misuse worker to join the team and work on an ongoing contract basis within one of their teams in Wokingham.

Your role will be based at a service that understands the impacts that drugs/alcohol can have, they are compassionate and help with a range of areas not just drug & alcohol. As a Recovery Worker you will be working within a brand new service that has recently opened. The service have a firm belief harm reduction is not about enabling drug use, it is pragmatic, non-judgmental and empowering. They offer a number of services including naxolone, overdose prevention centres, opioid substitutes, group sessions, 1-2-1’s & much more.

The services main aim is to help service users across the region who are suffering with substance misuse issues. The role available is varied so you will be working with families as a whole, taking a holistic view to the recovery strategy offered to those coming to the service. You will be training to deliver MPACT and will be supported to deliver a range of group and 1-2-1 support.

As a Key worker within this role you will be working with a caseload of up to 50 clients who are mainly suffering with alcohol issues, however there will be a handful who may also be suffering with both alcohol & drug problems. You will be working within a wider team to offer service users various methods of support to aid their recovery which may include structured treatments/recovery plans, advice around harm reduction methods, group & 1-2-1 support services and meetings, interventions & other techniques.

Other duties to the role will include:

• Work directly with service users with a trauma informed approach and deliver interventions to support service users accessing services.

•Support referral into service using structured guidelines to provide support for continuity of care.

•Co-ordinate the client’s care to enable them to access pharmacological interventions where required, including opiate substitute therapy or relapse prevention medication

•Comply with policy and procedures in the monitoring and management of client prescribing to ensure safe delivery of interventions

•Undertake outreach and satellite provision, to ensure the service covers the geographical area sufficiently.

•Identify safeguarding issues and respond appropriately using local authority and national guidelines

• Assisting individuals to explore and plan for future employment, training and education opportunities and assist service users in relation to their aftercare

The manager is looking for candidates who have a genuine background/passion for drug & alcohol recovery services, you will need experience of using assessments tools & working on a 1-2-1 basis with vulnerable client groups along with evidence of clinical knowledge gained through continuous work within the alcohol sector. Full inductions and ongoing support will be offered to the successful candidate.

In return the service can offer an ongoing locum position, working Mon-Fri 9-5 with 1 day of home working per week.
