Responsibilities

The Solution Engineering Operating Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational execution and continuous improvement of solution engineering teams. This role ensures that pre-sales and post-sales engineering solutions are delivered efficiently, align with customer needs, and adhere to strategic business goals. The manager will coordinate with sales, product management, R&D, and customer support to streamline operations, improve customer satisfaction and grow Aerospace Defense business.

  • Operational Leadership:
    • Lead and manage solution engineering operations across multiple projects and regions.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures to drive consistency and quality.
    • Monitor KPIs and performance metrics to ensure operational excellence.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Collaborate with leadership to define the strategic direction of the solution engineering function.
    • Align operational activities with business goals, focusing on scalability and efficiency.
  • Project Oversight:
    • Oversee the execution of complex technical solutions, from proposal to delivery.
    • Ensure resource allocation aligns with project priorities and deadlines.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to increase team efficiency.
    • Introduce tools and systems to automate and optimize engineering workflows.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with sales, product, and R&D teams to align solutions with customer needs and product capabilities.
    • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team Management:
    • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of solution engineers and technical leads.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and professional development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 8-12 years of experience in solution engineering, technical consulting, or operations management.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong understanding of solution lifecycle management and technical project delivery.
  • Experience with Aerospace Defense market and applications is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with enterprise software or test and measurement technologies
  • Experience working in a global/matrixed organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of CRM and ERP systems (e.g., Salesforce, SAP).
