Job Purpose Summary:

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (REMT) has an ambitious growth strategy with a brand mission to be “The World’s Greatest immersive event(s)”. This strategy will see the organisation evolve from a national event to a global entertainment company. International Tattoos, building customer revenue beyond ticket sales and identifying new profit streams that exploit IP are important elements of the strategy. By maximising revenue, the organisation can maximise the donations it makes to military and arts charities.

A strong marketing and communications plan is required to strategically shape this organisational strategy. This role is focused entirely on SEO and Content delivery. The SEO and Content Manager will be responsible for creating and delivering Content, including but not limited to, social media, blogs, e-mail, video, e-newsletter and website copy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and develop all social media platforms, ensuring superb customer interaction and engagement, whilst considering customer needs/expectations of the future.
  • Creation and curation of engaging digital content and content pipeline that drives effectiveness measures up and customer relationships deeper.
  • Customer communications via the social and team mailboxes.
  • Exploring new content and production methods to push the brand into new and innovative spaces.
  • Developing SEO in order to maximise search opportunities, including PPC.
  • Effective management of agency relationships and interdepartmental working to support business strategy and content delivery.
  • Cross department collaboration to explore new content ideas with the aim of achieving business objectives and communicating key narratives.
  • Assessing business needs, considering platform appropriateness and making recommendations on how best to achieve the objective requires a strategic focus.
  • Developing a content-led digital strategy, utilising agencies and in house assets for promotion across multiple platforms.
  • Building and developing a weekly social media strategy, adapting to change and using insights to inform decision making.
  • Considering how, and ensuring that, all content is brand appropriate, and follows accessibility best practice now and in the future.
  • Collaborate with the Digital and CRM Managers on SEO campaigns.
Measures of Effectiveness:
  • Website traffic and email performance.
  • Social Media Dashboards – with a particular focus of effectiveness measures.
  • Insights and analysis generation.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Feedback.
Essential Criteria:
  • Experience in content and design development.
  • Effective project management with demonstrable organisation and influence skills.
  • Intermediate level of CMS Knowledge/Experience (ideally Umbraco, but similar systems like WordPress, etc. are fine too), being familiar with general web content structures and publishing workflows.
  • Experience in marketing and communications using a variety of different digital channels.
  • Experience of preparing reports and briefs at strategic level and presenting to Senior Management.
  • Experience in SEO with a proven track record of implementation.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent.

This is a Fixed Term Contract from April 2025 to October 2026.
