Responsibilities

Lead systems engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements analysis to system verification and validation. Collaborate with stakeholders to capture and define system requirements, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and industry standards. Design and develop system architectures, functional specifications, and system integration plans, taking into account risk assessment and mitigation strategies. Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation, including requirement traceability matrices, system design documentation, and testing protocols. Conduct trade studies and technical analyses to evaluate design alternatives and support decision-making. Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices in systems engineering. Engage with clients to provide technical expertise, ensuring project requirements are met within scope, budget, and timeline constraints. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance systems engineering processes and tools, keeping abreast of industry advancements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Essential skills

Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex systems engineering challenges.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to translate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.Team Leadership: Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers, with a commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.Project Management: Skilled in project planning, time management, and working under deadlines to ensure project deliverables are met.

Desired skills

Chartered Engineer status or working toward chartered status. Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience working in a collaborative, dynamic team environment. Understanding of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and its practical applications in large-scale projects. Previous experience in client-facing roles, including technical presentations and proposal development.

Experience

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, ideally in aerospace, defense, or automotive sectors. Proficiency in systems engineering tools such as DOORS, MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, and MBSE methodologies. Strong knowledge of requirements management, system architecture, and integration practices. Experience with safety-critical systems engineering standards and frameworks (., ISO 26262, ARP4754A, or MIL-STD-882). Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and projects, with a demonstrated ability to manage technical risk.
