At ZeroAvia, we’re clean sky thinkers. For the world to achieve truly clean, guilt-free flight, we need a scalable solution; hydrogen-electric powertrains. As a leader in zero-emission aviation and a UK Jet Zero Council member, we’re designing and commercialising hydrogen-powered solutions that will positively impact the future of aviation, global connectivity, and the world.

You will become a solution-focused champion in our high-velocity culture. We value results and efficiency and prioritise achieving our mission most effectively and innovatively possible. You’ll be part of our unified team to create solutions and solve problems, If you’re eager to take radical ownership and are unafraid to ask questions or challenge the status quo, then we want you to be part of our Clean Sky Thinking.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply skills as defined above to deliver clear, structured, and communicated systems engineering documentation across aircraft, system, and item levels.
  • Work closely with Airworthiness, Certification, Systems Safety, System Test, and downstream engineering to deliver lean system development in line with the guidance of ARP4754A/B and ARP4761/A.
  • Continuously upgrade and update process and planning documentation based on iterative maturity development.
  • Act as mentor across business functions on matters relating to lifecycle, development assurance, requirements management, and consistently demonstrate working-level best practice.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in the application of Systems lifecycle processes (V-cycle), with a particular emphasis on the early phases of the V model. Previous experience within developmental lifecycles characterized by low maturity inputs is preferred.
  • Proficient in aircraft control systems (preferably engine controls), including the capture of control functions and requirements, as well as the authoring of controller specifications to facilitate item development.
  • It is preferable that the candidate has experience in the decomposition of certification requirements and guidance materials, along with the development of new systems (exposure to new product introductions).
  • A proven track record of working effectively in small, high-performance teams is essential.
  • Experience with certified or in-certification aircraft systems, including propeller, electrical power, flight control/avionics; or certified or in-certification powerplant systems, such as rotating components, engine control, and cooling/lubrication is considered advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in the elicitation, capture, and management of requirement sets at all levels (aircraft, system, item), with a focus on ensuring their validation in accordance with completeness and correctness standards.
  • Robust experience in the development of system architecture, functions, and interfaces, encompassing stakeholder management with downstream engineering teams, as well as assumption and risk management.
  • Familiarity with aircraft or engine performance simulation and validation would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of system safety analysis techniques (FHA, FTA, FMEA) and reliability assessments is also desired.
  • Proficiency with aircraft control systems (preferably engine controls), including the capture of control functions and requirements, alongside the authoring of controller specifications to support item development.
  • Considerable experience in managing systems engineering elements in software-centric environments, such as RMT (Polarion, DOORS) and CAE (Matlab Simulink, Simcenter).
  • Extensive experience in authoring and reviewing Systems Engineering documentation to meet grammatically correct, clear, and concise standards.
  • Strong aptitude for close collaboration with, and providing structure and clarity to, multiple cross-functional stakeholders. Additionally, a robust willingness to adapt based on stakeholder feedback and rigorous scrutiny is essential in this position.
  • Experience in aviation-intended electric propulsion systems, fuel cell systems, or EVTOLs is considered a valuable asset.
