Senior Software Engineer - Avionics (Stevenage/HYBRID)


A brilliant opportunity to advance your career while working with cutting-edge technologies in the avionics domain as a Senior Software Engineer.


Hybrid working:The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.​


If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including: ​identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service)​

Your skills and experience​


  • Hold an Engineering/Physics/Maths degree (or are working towards one for interns)
  • Experience with the following technologies is highly desired (required for experienced applicants):
  • C/C++development
  • Pythondevelopment, in particular data processing and the use of graphing libraries
  • git for version control
  • Linux operating systems and bash CLI/scripting


Experience with the following technologies is beneficial:

  • GitLab/GitHubor similar platform for collaborative development
  • Continuous Integration (CI)
  • gcc, make, cmake and related compilation infrastructure
  • ROS 2, or other robotics middleware
  • Integrated development workflow, in particular use ofVS Codeas an IDE


Experience in the following topics:

  • Control algorithms, in particular control of actuators or processing of sensor data (e.g. IMU, lidar) and vision based navigation
  • Simulation modelling, developing models of equipment, dynamics or the environment
  • Robotics hands on skills, e.g.:

soldering

basic electronics

basic networking

basic knowledge about cameras

OS installation and package management

Your security clearance

To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks. ​There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.​ There are other criteria and checks required for BPSS, and throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
