Senior Project Engineer – Material Handling Solution Provider


Dodd Engineering Limited provide bespoke material handling solutions to key blue chip clients in the automotive, aerospace and modular housing industries and we now wish to recruit an experienced Senior Project Engineer to work within our existing mechanical engineering and design team.

As a key member of this specialist team you will have the opportunity to lead major project delivery as part of the turnkey bespoke material handling system solution. The role will be very hands on and cover all aspects of the end to end business requirements from design, manufacture to installation and handover.

The Package

£Excellent salary plus pension plus bonus

25 days annual holidays plus statutory holidays.


The Role


We are looking for a high calibre self-starter, professional project engineer, capable of operating at high level within their company.

This role requires an understanding of the project lifecycle from concept through to completion.

This includes the development of project plans, co-ordination of project delivery, documentation, regular communication with clients and hand-over of the completed project.


Activities include:

+ Design co-ordination

+ Project planning and development

+ Liaison with clients

+ Project supplier management and purchasing

+ Participating in the tendering process and submission of quotations

+ Report writing and surveying

+ Factory acceptance test specification documentation

+ Client facing factory acceptance testing

+ Generation of risk assessments and method statements

+ Onsite installation, testing and process commissioning

+ Training documentation

+ Operation and maintenance documentation

+ Maintain good client relations throughout the project lifecycle

+ Management of subcontractors


Skills/Experience

+ Degree in Mechanical Engineering

+ Major project delivery experience in the automotive industry

+ 10 or more years project management experience in a similar role, supplying capital equipment, material handling systems and/or bespoke machinery.

+ Have high intellect and potential to develop within the company.

+ Good written and communication skills


The person

Dodd employs a close knit team of dedicated professionals and a good fit into this team is essential. The person needs to be bright, intelligent, good team player and have excellent communication skills. Highly motivated and entrepreneurial in approach will be pre-requisites for this new role.
