Who will you be working with?
Napier Turbocharger, a Wabtec Company, is looking for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. We design, manufacture, and test industrial turbochargers for the power generation, marine, and rail traction industries.
How will you make a difference?
Knowledge of modern machining and manufacturing processes, NC programming, ideally from a low-volume, high accuracy manufacturing environment e.g., Aerospace, Power Generation.
What will your typical day look like?
- Lead and manage projects within Manufacturing, taking responsibility for delivery, project planning, execution, and cost.
- Define manufacturing processes for turbocharger components and assemblies.
- Creation and maintenance of supporting documentation, including Manufacturing Routings, Layouts, and Instructions.
- NC programming of multi-axis Turning, Milling, Grinding, and EDM machines.
- Programming of Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using PC-DMIS.
- Define, perform, and implement investigations into non-conformance through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Procurement of jigs, fixtures, tooling, gauging, and lifting equipment.
- Interface with supporting departments such as Design, Quality, Procurement, and external suppliers.
- Generate and implement cost reduction initiatives.
What do we want to know about you?
- Ideally you will be qualified to HNC level or above in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with having undergone relevant training as a Manufacturing Technician/ Engineer.
- Experience in a modern manufacturing facility with a good understanding of modern machining techniques, plus problem solving techniques.
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques and processes.
- Computer/ software literate.
