Senior Human Factors Consultant


Salary range:£60,000 to £70,000 per annum + Bonus + Benefits + Flexible working.
Location:Bristol, Gloucester, Leatherhead, Manchester OR Glasgow
Working Pattern:We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern that can be tailored to fit your preferences.

Due to the nature of the work undertaken, UK Citizenship is required for this position.

To support the capability of our Human Factors Integration (HFI) work, we are looking to recruit a Senior Human Factors Consultant to join our growing team.
The team you would join is a multidisciplinary team of Human Factors Engineers / Consultants and others with a more Behavioural Scientist focus that have experience across multiple industry sectors such as Nuclear, Defence, Energy, Aerospace, Govt and Rail.
They work on a range of innovative, interesting, and impactful projects, across a wide and growing client base.
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Human Factors Consultant, who has a strong technical knowledge within Human Factors and the ability to develop Human Factors strategies for complex projects, from both a technical and commercial perspective. You will be expected to be able to provide technical coordination and management on projects, both operating individually and heading up small technical teams, as required.

You will be planning, delivering, and overseeing Human Factors work as part of multidisciplinary projects across a number of market sectors. There is also the opportunity to undertake research into a range of Human Factors related topics directly for clients.
Experience in reviewing and verifying the work of peers and being able to provide technical guidance and mentoring within projects to junior members of the team is essential.
The role requires a deep understanding of the role of Human Factors within multidisciplinary projects and the ability to plan, deliver, and oversee Human Factors activities as part of a wider programme.
Knowledge of Systems Engineering is highly desirable and experience of integrating Human Factors within other engineering, technology, and other project-related services is expected.

You will have an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Human Factors or a proven relevant career background.

Essential skills

  • Ability to develop and implement HF strategies for delivering complex projects, from both a technical and commercial perspective, across a range of safety-critical industries.
  • A deep knowledge of human factors and experience in implementing HFI activities (e.g., early human factors analysis, human factors integration planning, ergonomic analysis, quantitative and qualitative human error and reliability assessments, workload assessments).
  • Ability to manage projects from a technical and commercial perspective and to give specific direction to others as to how to complete well-defined tasks and monitor their performance within the project.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance/mentoring within projects to junior members of the team.
  • Ability to author and review complex technical deliverables.
  • Ability to identify and support business development opportunities resulting in the preparation of estimates, proposals, budgets, and documentation.
  • Possess a good understanding and experience in undertaking formal HF analyses as applied to engineering programmes.
  • Experience of forming and maintaining positive working relationships with customers.
  • Contribute to the overall vision and strategy for the human factors team.
