One of the largest insurance companies in the UK is looking for a Senior Data Scientist with Geospatial experience. They will be looking to grow out this function with you at the forefront, so it's an exciting opportunity with a great progression path.As a Senior Geospatial Data Scientist, you will spearhead the creation of geospatial solutions to address complex challenges across various business functions. Leveraging your expertise in geospatial data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modelling, you will also play a key role in shaping the development of innovative insurance products and services.The Role:Lead the design, development, and deployment of geospatial machine learning models to derive insights from large-scale geospatial datasets.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.Perform exploratory data analysis and feature engineering to extract key information from geospatial data.Build, evaluate, and refine predictive machine learning models to improve accuracy and performance.Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable data pipelines for geospatial data ingestion, processing, and storage.Keep up with the latest trends and advancements in geospatial analytics, machine learning, and data science, integrating new techniques into existing processes.Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative team environment.Communicate insights and findings clearly to stakeholders through visualizations, reports, and presentations. About you:Master's or PhD in Geospatial Sciences, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Computer Science, or a related field.Experience in the financial services industry.Demonstrated expertise in geospatial data analysis, including manipulation, spatial statistics, and visualization of geospatial datasets.Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, with hands-on experience using geospatial libraries like GDAL, GeoPandas, or ArcPy.Skilled in applying machine learning techniques and libraries to geospatial data analysis and modeling.Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, and distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark for processing large geospatial datasets.Familiar with geospatial databases and visualization tools such as Tableau, QGIS, and ArcGIS.Knowledgeable in satellite imagery analysis, LIDAR data processing, and other remote sensing techniques.Proven experience deploying geospatial analytics solutions in production and integrating them into existing systems and workflows.Strong problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.This role can be based across sites in London, Bristol or Bournemouth.
