Senior Engineer
We are now looking for a
Senior CFD/Simulation Engineer
to join our team working for a better future.
The position is permanent, and the preferred location is in Havant, but also hybrid working arrangements are possible.
What you will be doing
The primary objective of this role within the methods, tools and processes team is to own and lead the Computer Fluid Dynamics (CFD)/simulation function within the business, the internal capability development agenda for CAE/CFD and simulation and be the go-to person for CFD simulation support to development projects. This person will thus be responsible for:
Ensuring the provision of timely analytical support to development programs. Development and roll-out of approved, validated methods and software tools. Identification, selection and acquisition of necessary resources (e.g. hardware and software and ongoing technical support) and championing the development of coherent business cases for investment. Identification and development of the necessary skills base, including supporting any recruitment and training activities. Compliance with Export Control requirements. Time management and general organisational skills. Develop knowledge base of product specification and integration within wider team. Work well within the Engineering and the wider WDSL team. Mentor junior members of the team.
As Senior CFD/Simulation Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
To seek to continuously develop and improve the customer value proposition of shaftline products by means of enhanced engineering processes. To develop and play an influential thought leadership role within the business in relation to CFD/simulation capability and knowledge-based tools development. To pro-actively provide expert technical support and coaching to other teams within the business. To actively promote Wartsila QEHS objectives. Any other duties, as required, to meet business objectives. To ensure that self and other team members develop and maintain world leading skills and competencies. To apply appropriate planning and risk management processes within the project environment to ensure development objectives are met. To actively seek to raise the CFD/simulation technology and capability profile of the business by a variety of means. Ensure compliance to specific codes. Ensure adherence to the Engineering BMS and the overall company BMS. Work closely with the Systems and the Design teams to address CFD requirements related to our projects. Ensure that changes are recorded according to the BMS. Liaise with the main project stakeholders, internal and external. Mentor junior members of staff. Work harmoniously with other company functions. Maintain compliance with all relevant data control requirements.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
Degree BEng (Hons) in Mechanical, Electrical, Naval, Chemical, Aerospace, or other Engineering or Scientific disciplines (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computing). CEng or working towards. Working experience in the field of Engineering especially Mechanical, Electrical, Maritime. Other relevant industry experience will be considered. Mid-Senior Level position. Must be eligible for SC level clearance.
(In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually)
