Due to increase workload Safran is recruiting Senior Electrical Design Engineers.

Safran Seats is one of the world's leading manufacturers of aircraft seats, for both crew and passengers. 1 million Safran Seats-manufactured aircraft seats are currently in service with air fleets around the world.

In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

Based in Cwmbran, South Wales, working as part of the Electrical Design Department. Responsible for the management of teams producing electrical installation models and detail drawings for new product and platform designs.
Also responsible for the checking and approval of all electrical design work to meet company, regulatory and customer requirements.

Job Summary

Senior Electrical Design Engineer with a thorough understanding of all aspects of electrical design, working within the aerospace industry.

Scope of Responsibilities

Part of the Electrical Design Department. Responsible for the management of teams producing electrical installation models and detail drawings for new product and platform designs.

Hold responsibilities for checking and approval of all electrical design work to meet company, regulatory and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage electrical engineering platform teams.
  • Ensure standards and performances are achieved.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate design activities.
  • Carry out professional development reviews and ensure any KPI set for the year are achieved
  • Manage and deliver electrical systems programmes as per agreed schedules and budgets, Responsible for the Eectrical submittals.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies i.e., EASA, FAA, Boeing and Airbus to certify the electrical systems installed in their aircraft.
  • Responsible for checking / approving systems drawings and documents ensuring compliance to OEM's & Regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for producing/updating electrical standard and process documentation
  • Liaise with electrical equipment manufacturers to finalise the equipment and their installation specification of the equipment
  • Report to senior management about the status of the programmes.
  • To communicate effectively and professionally with customers, suppliers & OEM's
  • Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process * The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element.

     Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines

     Participate in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, etc)
     Must have good working knowledge of BMS documents ECR's, ADCN's, Permits, Concessions Etc.
     Coach and mentor apprentices and graduate engineers.

    Qualified to degree level in an Electrical Engineering field or HNC / HND as part of an Electrical Apprenticeship.
    Highly Proficient with experience in Catia and PLM.
    Experience with Product Life Management (PLM) Systems
    Experience using 3D CAD & AutoCAD electrical software packages or equivalent.
    Understanding of the effective application of tolerances and a working knowledge of manufacturing processes, as well as OEM installation requirements.
    Ability to read design drawings and specifications.
    Liaising with customers/airframers/suppliers
    Project management tools.
    Proven experience supervising an Electrical Design team desirable.
    Experienced in working with Boeing and Airbus specifications for electrical equipment installation is desirable.
    A working knowledge of the various methods of manufacture and test of electrical and electronic Components desirable.
    Experience in new model introduction desirable.
    You will be required to hold a full U.K. Driving License and Passport, as some UK
    and overseas travel may be required
