Location: Derby - Hybrid Working

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 (DOE) + Benefits

The company:

Our client is a leading engineering business specialising in providing cutting-edge solutions across multiple sectors, including Gas Turbines, Acoustics, Nuclear, Defence, and Renewables. Their engineering team offers end-to-end support, from conceptual design to detailed manufacturing and installation. With a global presence, they supply innovative systems including exhausts, ventilation, and acoustic solutions to industries such as petrochemical, aerospace, and civil engineering. As they expand their operations and take on new global projects, they are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join their team and support this exciting period of growth.

The UK arm of the business currently employs around 60 members of staff, with a team of 12 Engineers in the department. They operate internationally, with the majority of there work being in the UK and Wider European, American and Asian markets.

As a group they turn over around £35 Million Worldwide, and pride themselves in being one of the big major playing in their industry.

The role:

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for handling engineering projects from concept through to fabrication, delivering high-quality solutions for safety-critical environments.

The role involves a combination of design work, engineering calculations, and project management. You’ll also work closely with clients and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of bespoke solutions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Developing conceptual and detailed designs, including structural calculations and CAD drawings (using Inventor and Ansys).
Collaborating with clients to gather technical requirements and provide innovative solutions.
Managing projects from initial concept to completion, including liaising with subcontractors for manufacturing and installation.
Conducting engineering analyses such as CFD, FEA, and seismic load assessments.
Supporting the sales team with technical proposals and providing engineering input during client meetings.
Ensuring compliance with safety regulations in nuclear and defence sectors.
What we’re looking for in a candidate:

Extensive experience as a Senior Design Engineer in mechanical or structural design.
Proficiency in using CAD software (Inventor, Ansys) for 3D and 2D modelling, with the ability to conduct structural and fluid dynamic calculations.
Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of handling full project lifecycles from design to installation.
A background in safety-critical environments such as nuclear, aerospace, or gas turbine systems would be highly advantageous.
Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal oversight.
The benefits:

-        Competitive salary package: £55,000 - £60,000 (DOE)

More experienced candidates are welcome to apply
-        25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

-        Hybrid working model: 3 days in the office 2 days from home

-        Core working hours 8:30 – 5pm

-        6% employer pension contribution.
