What you’ll be doing

Martin-Baker is the world’s leading manufacturer of ejection seats, helping to protect aircrew in the world’s most advanced military aircraft. Our mission is simple - to save aircrew lives.

Join us on this mission as Senior Contracts Manager to support clients and commercial account development across American geographies; this is a fixed term opportunity likely to be for around 9 months.

This role will be focused on account managing a collection of clients, encompassing contracting activities, creating business proposals, contributing to bids/tenders, deal making, and handling contract interpretation and challenges when issues arise. You’ll provide continual guidance, assistance, and training to more junior colleagues. All of your efforts will support client negotiations to a successful conclusion, driving continued commercial success across the accounts you’ll be leading. Support will be provided by your line manager and a wider collaborative team across the commercial function.

Characteristics & Skills

  • Proven experience of account management, contract structures, negotiation procedures and DFAR/FAR processes.
  • Seasoned knowledge of commercial and contract processes within the aerospace/defence sector, including procurement practices, bid management and pricing techniques, exchange rates and forward exchange deals, guarantees, banking instruments, principles of export control and shipping terms.
  • Established people management skills, with proven abilities of driving commercial success with teams previously managed, determined to coach and steer the best results from direct reports.
  • Proven experience of working with the US Government is essential for this position. Strong customer liaison and relationship expertise.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the highest standards.
  • Have an eye for detail and getting things right.
