AECOM is a major engineering consultancy based in central London, who help design and deliver high profile engineering projects both internationally and in the UK. We are expanding our team and looking for a talented Senior CFD Engineer to join us in our London office.

The CFD team provide specialist expertise on many of these projects, recently including work on the Rio Olympics, the Houses of Parliament and World Cup stadia. Through cutting-edge use of the latest CFD techniques and HPC technology, the team are expanding their capacity in helping architects and engineers create sustainable buildings and infrastructure, and are seeking a talented Senior Engineer with a background in CFD and strong problem solving skills to help drive this growth.

What you’ll do! 

Some of the areas you will work on include (but are not limited to):

  • Pedestrian wind microclimate
  • Pollution dispersal
  • Water flow modelling (dam spillways, etc.)
  • High speed rail aerodynamics
  • HVAC performance
  • Data Centre performance analysis (internal and external) 
  • Tunnel ventilation
  • Aircraft wake prediction
  • Solar gain / stack effect / natural ventilation modelling
  • Evaporative modelling
  • Complex parametric geometries

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a field such as Aeronautical / Aerospace Engineering, Project Management experience / qualifications including Prince 2, experience in aerospace (e.g. motor sport) and defence sectors, and Aerodynamic team leadership experience.
  • Experience in managing and producing thermal comfort studies (e.g. PMV), Lawson Wind Microclimate studies including 3rd party review, pollution dispersion analysis, single/multiphase hydrodynamics analysis, shading analysis, and presenting and delivering technical analysis to clients in fluent English.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Ansys CFX, ICEM, Rhino, Paraview, Grasshopper, Python, Excel, Linux, and HPC systems.
  • Project delivery experience including UK and Middle Eastern clients, with technical and non-technical stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience researching and implementing white paper research into working practices, writing fees and scopes of works for clients, managing and allocating budget within a working group / project.
  • Creative design of bespoke mitigations and solutions for clients based on tested / simulated results with understanding and application of loss coefficients for porous media.
