EMS Sales Director


The Sales Director will play a crucial role in driving growth, building relationships, and expanding the company customer base, this is a senior level outside sales position with responsibility for new sales and new customer development.


As the Sales Director you will be responsible for identifying prospective opportunities, developing new customer relationships for Electronic Manufacturing Solutions (EMS) services, predominantly focusing on the UK market. This is an individual contributor role and will not have team reporting into it.


Responsibilities


  • Working alongside the marketing team, conduct market research to identify potential clients, market trends, and competitors.
  • Analyse customer needs and assess the market demand for PCBA products.
  • Regularly meet with prospective new customers as well as existing customer accounts to identify strategic opportunities that align with new business growth objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to expand the customer base.
  • Explore new markets and opportunities for business growth and identify and pursue business opportunities through networking and partnerships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients for new business opportunities.
  • Understand client requirements and propose suitable electronics manufacturing solutions and address customer concerns, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Regularly review objectives and sales targets and work towards achieving or exceeding them. Develop pricing strategies and negotiate contracts with clients.
  • Collaborate with the internal sales team to close deals and generate revenue.
  • Stay updated with the latest PCB, PCBA/component manufacturing technologies and industry trends.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the company’s products and services.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network with potential clients and partners.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key industry stakeholders.


Job Specification


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as marketing, internal sales, production, engineering and quality assurance to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Provide feedback from clients to internal teams for product/service improvements.
  • Negotiate contracts terms and conditions with clients. Work closely with finance teams to ensure contracts are finalised smoothly.
  • Prepare regular sales and business development reports for the management team.
  • Analyse sales data and trends to make informed business decisions.
  • Ensure all sales activities comply with legal and ethical standards.
  • Uphold the organisation’s reputation and values in all interactions.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and quotations for significant new business opportunities from existing and potential new clients.
  • Customise product offerings based on client requirements.


Qualifications & Competencies


  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field or technical background, especially in electrical engineering or product manufacturing.
  • Tangible career history in new sales negotiation and business development roles, especially in electronics or manufacturing industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of customer applications in the following vertical markets – Medical, Aerospace & Defence, Industrial and Automotive.
  • Strong sales skills and the ability to negotiate effectively are crucial, as well as the ability to close deals and secure contracts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of technical aspects related PCBA manufacturing is important for effective communication with clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to conduct market research, analyse data, and identify trends to make informed business decisions.
  • Strong networking skills to establish and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers and industry professionals.
  • Experience in managing client relationships, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions.
  • Demonstrable success in meeting or exceeding sales targets and building long-term clients relationships.
  • Excellent experience with the use of CRM’s and other sales tools.
