Quality Inspector - Manufacturing

Salary: £32,000 + Excellent Benefits

Hours: Mon–Thurs 7:30am–4:00pm | Fri 7:30am–1:30pm (Early Finish Fridays!)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Contact: Emily or Sammy within the MET team at PWR.

If you’re the type of person who notices the millimetre before the machine does, thrives on precision, and takes pride in getting complex measurements absolutely spot on… you’ll want to read this.

We’re working with a long-established aerospace manufacturer who produce highly technical, high-integrity components. Their Quality team is growing, and they’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Inspector who loves real engineering—proper measurement, proper problem-solving, and proper craftsmanship.

This is not a paperwork-only quality role. It’s about being right there with the parts, jigs, fixtures, drawings, and measurement tools—making sure every component is exactly as it needs to be.

Your Role – Mechanical Inspector

You’ll join a knowledgeable, supportive Quality Assurance department, carrying out detailed dimensional and visual inspections on complex aerospace castings. This requires a strong grasp of engineering drawings, GD&T and the ability to measure mechanically—not just relying on machines, but understanding the maths, angles, and setups behind them.

You’ll be working with CMMs, height gauges, micrometers, verniers, dial indicators, sine bars, rotary tables, v-blocks and more. If you enjoy the challenge of setting up compound angles correctly and solving “how do we measure this?” puzzles—this is exactly the environment for you.

As discussed with the team today, success in this role comes from three things:

quality mindset, curiosity, and real attention to detail.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Carrying out full dimensional and visual inspection to detailed aerospace engineering drawings

Using precision instruments including micrometers, vernier callipers, height gauges, DTIs and CMMs

Setting datums and checking complex features such as arcs, radii, angles and compound angles

Marking out, setting up jigs, and performing iterative measurement checks

Completing Dimensional FAIRs and AS9102 Form 3s

Maintaining and calibrating inspection equipment

Working closely with production teams to resolve quality issues

Playing a key role in driving accuracy, consistency and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For:

Solid experience as a Mechanical Inspector within aerospace or precision engineering

Strong, confident use of mechanical measurement tools (not just CMM reliance)

Excellent understanding of engineering drawings & GD&T

A methodical, precise approach and an exceptional eye for detail

The ability to problem-solve, question, challenge and improve processes

A positive, proactive attitude – technical ability is key, but your approach matters just as much

Willingness to learn additional inspection techniques specific to complex castings

The team have specifically highlighted that character and work ethic matter hugely—they value people who take pride in their work, communicate well, and fit into a supportive, no-ego environment.

What’s in It for You:

Competitive £32,000 salary

Early finish every Friday

Secure, long-term role within an established, profitable aerospace business

A friendly, enthusiastic team where face-to-face communication and shared standards really matter

Ongoing development – this company invests in their people

Real engineering, proper inspection, and a product you can genuinely be proud of

Don’t Miss Out!

If you’re serious about engineering quality and want a role where your skill and craft really make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Please send your CV (including full month/year employment dates) for immediate consideration.

Space Sector Hiring Trends 2026: What to Watch Out For (For Job Seekers & Recruiters)

The UK space sector is no longer a niche curiosity. It is now a strategic industry worth billions, employing tens of thousands of people across nearly 2,000 organisations – and it has been growing faster than the wider UK economy for years. At the same time, employers report serious skills shortages, especially in software, data and systems engineering, with recruitment and retention now cited as key barriers to growth. For job seekers, this is encouraging – but it does not mean every space application is an easy win. For recruiters, competing for talent with tech, defence, energy and finance is only getting harder. This article, written for www.ukspacejobs.co.uk , explores the space sector hiring trends to watch in 2026, aimed at both: Job seekers searching for terms like “space jobs in the UK”, “satellite jobs UK”, or “space engineer roles”; and Recruiters and hiring managers interested in “space sector hiring trends” and “space recruitment UK”.

Space Industry Recruitment Trends 2025 (UK): What Job Seekers Need To Know About Today’s Hiring Process

Summary: UK space‑sector hiring has shifted from pedigree‑first screening to capability‑driven evaluation across the full stack—spacecraft systems, payload/RF, flight software, GNC/ADCS, propulsion, structures/thermal, AIT (assembly–integration–test), mission/ground operations, reliability/radiation, and compliance (ECSS, export control). Employers want proof you can build, test, operate and scale space systems safely and economically. This guide explains what’s changed, what to expect in interviews & how to prepare—especially for satellite/spacecraft engineers, payload & RF/MM‑wave, flight & ground software, GNC/ADCS, power/thermal, AIT/test, mission ops, data/EO, and space product/TPM roles. Who this is for: Systems engineers, payload/RF engineers, flight software & FDIR, GNC/ADCS, power/thermal/structures, propulsion, AIT/test, reliability/radiation, QA/compliance, ground segment/cloud, mission operations, EO/data processing, and product/programme managers targeting roles in the UK space ecosystem.

Why Space Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

The UK’s space sector is growing fast — from satellite systems and Earth observation to satellite communications, space robotics, propulsion, space data analytics, and mission operations. But the nature of space work is changing. Projects involving satellites, launch systems, space robotics and ground infrastructure are now embedded in regulation, public perception, human interaction and cross-disciplinary design. Space careers in the UK used to be dominated by engineers, astrophysicists, systems analysts and telemetry experts. Today, they increasingly demand fluency not only in aerospace, software, electronics & data, but also in law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. After all, space systems operate under treaties, privacy constraints, public scrutiny, international collaborations and human interfaces. In this article, we explore why space careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how those allied fields intersect with space work, and what job-seekers & employers must do to thrive in this evolving cosmos.
