A global leader in its field is looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineer to its team in the Birmingham area.

Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager to ensure that all products adhere to established regulations, quality standards and approved maintenance data. Production and manufacturing experience is essential in this role.

This quality engineer role is only suitable to a quality engineer who possesses hands on manufacturing and process experience. Certainly not looking for 100% desk based quality engineer here, instead you will have an understanding of drawings, be a regular presence on the shop floor, be familiar with parts, and comfortable working with shop floor staff.

The advertised pay rates are PAYE. An umbrella pay option is available.

37 hours per week, plus occasional overtime.

Other key responsibilities & key criteria associated with this role, listed below:

Key Responsibilities:
• Liaise with engineering and production teams to perform investigations on non-conforming product ensuring root cause is identified and corrective actions are implemented
• Conducting thorough inspections of components in process and finished to verify compliance with specifications and/or approved maintenance data
• Participating in internal quality audits to assess compliance with regulations, company standards and approved maintenance data
• Involvement in continuous improvement activities to drive site continuous improvement initiatives
• Development & reporting of Key Performance Indicators, undertaking trend analysis and working with stakeholders to address underperforming metrics.

Essential Criteria:
• A working understanding of aviation regulation and approvals. UK CAA / EASA Part 145, FAA, CAAC, AS9100, AS9110 & AS9120
• Experienced in conducting investigations with full root cause analysis and structuring corrective actions
• An understanding of 8D principles
• Previous experience in an aerospace MRO organization or OE manufacturing environment
• Experience of manufacturing processes and measurement techniques
• Experience in working with bespoke computer-based records systems and tools including SAP, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Educated to degree level in a relevant subject area or equivalent experience
• Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, to enable effective communication at all levels.
• Disciplined, organized and proactive approach to work.
