As an Engineering Project Manager in 'Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology' (ADS&T), you'll be part of our Programme Delivery Practice. In your role, you'll deliver as part of a client's team or deliver to the client. You'll therefore work directly with clients and people from a range of organisations including our own to achieve results in a complex, highly regulated, safety critical sector. You'll be supported to lead your own work packages or Agile delivery teams.

Your purpose:

You will act as Project Manager for several projects within the Account, and therefore:

  • Support the Senior Project Manager/Project Director with activities including but not limited to:
    • Delivery to meet expected time, cost and quality outcomes.
    • Financial budgeting, planning, and reporting.
    • Generation of management information.
  • Demonstrate good communication and engagement skills, specifically with client and project stakeholders, to manage escalated issues and develop strong relationships in support of ongoing delivery and business development.
  • Be able to anticipate and co-ordinate responses to client needs.
  • Support the delivery of work in line with high regulated quality management environments in support of but not limited to internal and external audit processes.


What you can bring:

  • Demonstration of clear delivery experience within an engineering environment, whether it be on plant and equipment or in construction or the built environment. Experience of managing output through gated design stages from the perspective of a contractor, or client would be advantageous. Experience of undertaking accountable Project Manager roles on multidisciplinary design projects (>£1M design fees per annum).
  • Strong collaborative behaviours to interface with client, contractors, other supply chain partners and the wider stakeholder communities.
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen (understanding of contracts, especially NEC 3 or NEC 4, and able to manage internal and external change effectively). Having CEMAR experience would be of benefit.
  • Able to support negotiations, balancing relationship and business needs. Knowledge and experience of implementing and operating Project Governance, Controls and Reporting processes related to Planning, Risks/Issues, Finance and Change Management. The ability to use data to interpret and understand project status to guide decision making is a key skill.
  • Practical Project Management experience coupled with knowledge of how to apply APM project management processes. Understanding of Nuclear Standards.Experience of working closely with multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Understanding of BIM.Ability to travel to the Reading area regularly would be beneficial, enabling you to be present at site, is a key requirement.
  • Delivery of project management and contract administration through the project life cycle. Ensuring that there is a common understanding of requirements and scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk and interfaces across the team.
  • Leading the project team - building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding, and developing the team.Deliver governance arrangements for projects within corporate and business policies, directives, guidance, and procedures to ensure a robust outcome.
  • Ensure safety is prioritised throughout delivery.Manage the project within client and agreed budgets.Management of Risk (and Opportunity) for the project from inception through to completion.
  • Administer and negotiate change control from inception through to completion.Manage approved sub-contractor procurement processes. Clear and accurate monitoring and reporting of project performance against programme, technical quality, financial and KPI targets; both internally and externally.
