The Acoustics team develops hearing protection, communication, noise reduction, and ultrasound devices and systems for a wide variety of military and commercial applications. The group also specializes in acoustic data acquisition and analysis and works on an array of other acoustical applications including underwater acoustics, vibrational systems, and simulation and modeling.

Position Summary

Our Advanced Technologies group is seeking a hands-on Lead Engineer to be part of a multi-disciplinary team working on projects that span a wide range of research areas. The work will vary and encompass commercial, military, or medical technology projects. Innovation and technical problem solving will be a major part of your position along with the ability to work productively with a diverse team of researchers. Experience developing both hardware and software for embedded systems is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Serve both as an individual contributor and lead a project team
  • Take ownership of project success and maintain customer relationships
  • Perform experiments in an independent & inventive manner
  • Identify and manage project schedules and risks
  • Document project progress

Desired Qualifications

  • Proven ability to self-manage across multiple projects as a contributing team member
  • Proven ability to lead a small group of cross-functional engineers on technical projects
  • Interest and experience spanning multiple technical disciplines to solve complex problems
  • Experience in both analog and digital signal processing
  • Experience in Control System design and modeling
  • Experience in Audio Engineering and Acoustics
  • Ability to model and analyze circuits and systems
  • Experience in Schematic and PCB design (Altium expertise is a plus)
  • Experience with embedded microcontrollers
  • Experience with programming and embedded systems

Education/Experience

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, or closely related engineering field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years experience working in product design and prototype fabrication and testing is desired.
