GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with one of the UK's leading and fastest growing manufacturers of passenger seats for commercial airlines. We are supporting their recruitment for a Procurement Manager to join their growing team on a full-time permanent contract, located in Northamptonshire.


To be considered for this role you must have experience within a progressive manufacturing environment. As a Procurement Manager you will build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers. Alongside identifying suppliers at multiple tiers and support validation of capacity, capability, components, cost opportunities and ability to conform to standards such as AS9100, ISO9001. It would be advantageous to have CIPS accreditation or a relevant related degree and Aerospace interiors related manufacturing experience.


This is an on-site role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday. The client is offering a competitive salary plus excellent company benefits such as life assurance, healthcare scheme and retail discounts.


Procurement Manager main duties:

  1. Lead function ensuring supply chain is an active contributor, consultant and decision maker in strategic NPD, Operational, Sales & Spares regarding the design, Manufacture & Supply of seats and component parts.
  2. Lead, manage and develop team in line with company policy, procedures and values. Hold regular meetings and one to ones to ensure clear communication and robust performance.
  3. Support Buyers with issue escalations and for resolving high level or critical issues.
  4. Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives and industry regulations.
  5. Identify, evaluate, and manage key suppliers to ensure high performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  6. Negotiate supplier agreements, ensuring quality standards, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
  7. Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
  8. Drive supplier performance improvement initiatives and risk assessments.
  9. Identify suppliers at multiple tiers and support validation of capacity, capability, components, cost opportunities and ability to conform to standards such as AS9100, ISO9001.
  10. Reduce inventory holding, associated transactional costs and E&O.
  11. Lead, manage Engineering Change implementation to ensure a smooth transition.
  12. Identify cost saving and value adding opportunities. Reduce material costs, lead time and logistical costs while maintaining quality and delivery.
  13. Define and track key procurement performance indicators (KPIs), including cost savings, supplier on-time delivery, and quality metrics.

Procurement Manager required skills and experience:

  1. Significant relevant experience within a progressive manufacturing environment.
  2. Demonstratable leadership skills that ensure supply chain alignment across the wider business which empowers and motivates while inspiring confidence and respect from others.
  3. Effective time management skills and adept at multi-tasking and changing priorities.
  4. Broad commodities expertise/knowledge relevant to aerospace seat builds. Including soft trim, fabrics, packaging, consumables, fasteners, machining, extrusions, forming composites and plastics.
  5. Relevant experience of negotiation and implementation of legal contracts relating to purchase agreements, long term agreements and specific vendor managed inventory agreements.
  6. Conversant with ERP/MRP systems and inventory control processes.
  7. Good interpersonal skills necessary to deal at highest levels of commercial supplier organisations, to influence internally and negotiate externally with suppliers.
  8. Knowledge of auditing practices within the function.
  9. Ability to present data effectively at all levels of the business.
  10. Clean and current driving License.
  11. Occasional requirement for business travel.
