Role: Process Engineer - Surface Technologies (permanent)
Salary: Up to £37,895 plus great benefits package
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Location: Near Heathrow Airport, West London

Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer - Surface Technologies to join my aerospace engineering client close to Heathrow Airport.
You will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and continuously improving plating shop processes and standards, driving tooling innovation, and troubleshooting production defects to ensure the highest quality output.
You will also help define key quality metrics, support REACH and COSHH compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve production and improvement goals.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop, configure, and optimise plating shop processes from inception to steady-state operation.
Analyse process data to identify best practices and continuous improvement opportunities.
Create and maintain standards, technical documentation, and FMEA analyses for all plating shop processes.
Define operational quality KPIs to support trend analysis and root cause investigation.
Review plating solutions, equipment, and practices for compliance with OEM and approved industry standards (e.g., Boeing SOPM, CMM, ASTM).
Identify and manage new tooling requirements, supporting design, manufacture, and documentation.
Provide technical support to daily operations, lab activities, and process troubleshooting.
Lead process investigations, implement corrective actions, and work with OEMs for concessions and approvals.
Support REACH/COSHH assessments for plating and non-plating substances.
Collaborate with the wider engineering and Continuous Improvement teams to develop cost-effective and standardised processes.
Ideal Candidate Profile:

Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or related science).
3-5 years' experience in electroplating or metal finishing, ideally within aerospace to EASA Part145 standards, or an equivalent manufacturing/maintenance industry.
Proven background in process improvement, lean manufacturing, and statistical process control.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience with MRP/ERP systems and MS Office.
Working knowledge of REACH and COSHH regulations.
A collaborative team player with the ability to work in a matrix environment.
Flexibility required for occasional travel.
Ongoing right to work within the UK without any restrictions. No sponsorships can be provided, now or in the future.
