Functional Safety Engineers - Contract Opportunities

Part-Time & Full-Time Contract Roles Available

Are you an experienced Functional Safety Engineer looking for a flexible contract role within a safety-critical environment? We're supporting a leading engineering consultancy as they deliver functional safety support to a long-term national infrastructure project in the nuclear sector.

Whether you're available part-time or full-time, this is a rare opportunity to apply your expertise in functional safety on a highly technical and nationally significant programme.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver functional safety assessments across complex engineering systems in line with relevant standards and methodologies.

Carry out safety analyses including FMEA, FTA, HAZOP, and LOPA.

Contribute to the development and review of safety case documentation.

Engage with design and engineering teams to ensure systems meet required safety integrity levels.

Provide input into safety plans and verification strategies.

Present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements:

A degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.

Significant experience in functional safety engineering within nuclear, defence, aerospace or other regulated sectors.

Familiarity with relevant standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511 or similar.

Demonstrated ability to work independently on safety-related tasks and documentation.

Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Must be a British national and eligible for SC clearance.

Contract Details:

Inside IR35 - PAYE engagement required.

Flexible working - part-time and full-time options.

Competitive daily rates, depending on experience and level.
