Principal Electronics Engineer – Hastings (Hybrid Working)

The Role
As a Principal Electronics Engineer, you’ll be a key contributor to complex avionics product development projects, from concept through to system integration and delivery. You will lead design initiatives, support system-level integration, and ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact while mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the design and development of complex electronic circuits and systems.

  • Integrate electronic systems into avionic platforms with a focus on reliability and performance.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams and junior engineers.

  • Ensure design compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Support cross-functional collaboration and effective project execution.

Key Skills & Experience


  • Strong background in both analogue and digital circuit design.

  • Experience with FPGA and ASIC development using VHDL or Verilog.

  • Knowledge of simulation tools such as SPICE, Cadence, or Mentor Graphics.

  • Understanding of signal integrity, EMC, and mixed-signal design.

  • Proficiency in PCB design and power management.

  • Hands-on experience with test equipment including oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers.

  • Proven ability to lead projects, manage resources, and mentor others.

Education & Qualifications


  • Degree (or equivalent) in electronics engineering or a related discipline.

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) is desirable.

  • Must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).

Working Arrangements


  • Based in Hastings with hybrid working (mix of on-site and remote).

  • Occasional travel may be required.
