Job summary
Are you keen to learn new skills and have experience working in a Pharmacy environment? If so, we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic person with good interpersonal skills to train as a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician across the hospital and community postholder will follow a structured training programme hosted at St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and attend placements at a branch of Pearl Chemist Group in Tooting, South West London.
Practical skills will be obtained through planned rotations throughout the hospital pharmacy department including Inpatient Pharmacy, Outpatient pharmacy, Satellite Dispensing Units, Wards, Pharmacy Stores and Distribution, Procurement and Clinical Trials as well as placements into community pharmacy.
Main duties of the job
Trainees develop a range of work-based skills during the training programme including:o Dispensing and labelling medicationo Providing counselling to patients on how to use prescribed medicationo Providing over the counter advice on medicines to customerso Taking drug histories and carrying out medicine reconciliationo Assessing the suitability of patients own medicines for useo Making the final check on prescriptionsThe training programme will combine the practical experience gained in the work environment with the underpinning knowledge of a college-based qualification over a two year period. This involves attending college one day a week, completing knowledge-based assignments and producing a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate work- based competencies.

Job responsibilities
You must have at least 4 GCSEs at grade C / 4 or above which include Maths, English and 1 science or equivalent recognised qualifications. All GCSEs including individual subjects and grades must be outlined on the application form. Overseas qualificationsmustbe certified by the UK national agency for the recognition and evaluation of international qualifications and skills (ENIC). Full details of ENIC statement of comparability including subjects and equivalent grades must be stated on the application form.

Salary: Year 1: 70% of AfC Band 4 + HCAS Year 2: 75% of AfC Band 4 + HCAS
