Hexcel is currently seeking aPilot Technicianfor ourDuxford, UKlocation.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Perform trials on pilot equipment. Responsible for housekeeping and 5S of pilot production areas and equipment maintenance along with reporting outcomes of pilot trials. Responsible for safe functioning of pilot equipment and to identify risk within their own work and communicate this to their supervisor with recommendations for action. Occasionally, to support risk management investigations. Ensure all raw materials and consumables needed for trials are available and responsible for storage of finished samples and products. Responsible for undertaking defined projects or carry out work in specific technical areas and inform their supervisor of circumstances likely to affect project plans at an early stage. Responsible for planning the technical aspects of the work with guidance from their supervisor while supporting with other team activities such as sample manufacture and engineering projects as required. Contribute in projects to upgrade existing pilot capacity and capability and to develop improvements to working methods including innovative problem-solving activities. To supervise and train peers on practical work and manage small or sub-projects with little to no support required from their supervisor. Offer suggestions for better workflow and time management and to manage their own time in the context of Supervisor’s recommendations. Communicate progress of projects, data from experiments to all necessary levels, by verbal or written communication, which could include technical reports and presentations to an internal audience.

Qualifications:

Ideally educated to HNC or equivalent along with a good level of experience working in a manufacturing or laboratory environment. Sound understanding of mechanical principles and direct experience of machine operation. Competent to undertake day to day activities with minimal guidance. Able to demonstrate a proactive and methodical approach to work. Competent IT skills. Awareness of good practice in terms of health and safety. Reliable with good time management experience. Strong team player – able and willing to actively contribute to project team. Good communication skills (written and verbal). Having experience or interest in automation methods, robotics, IOT or Factory 4.0 concepts will be a bonus.
