Packaging Engineer (Contractor - Initial 3 Months)
Location: [South Wales] | Contract: 3 Months | Outside IR35 | Onsite

Are you a detail-driven Packaging Engineer with a passion for precision and innovation? We're seeking a skilled contractor to join our clients team and develop bespoke packaging solutions for high-value aerospace cabin lighting equipment. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the safe and compliant delivery of cutting-edge aerospace technology to OEM customers.

About the Role:

As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating packaging systems that meet stringent aerospace standards. Your work will ensure the secure handling, transportation, and storage of sensitive components, with a strong emphasis on quality, compliance, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop custom packaging for aerospace components and assemblies.
Evaluate packaging needs based on product fragility, transport mode, and environmental factors.
Ensure compliance with UK and international aerospace standards (ATA 300, ISO, OEM specs).
Conduct qualification testing (drop, vibration, compression, environmental).
Collaborate with Design, Quality, Procurement, Logistics, and suppliers.
Create detailed packaging specifications and documentation.
Work with external suppliers to source materials and develop cost-effective solutions.

Requirements:

Proven experience in packaging engineering within aerospace or high-value manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of packaging standards for electronic products.
Experience with protective packaging (foam, corrosion protection, shock-absorbing systems).
Familiarity with sustainable and reusable packaging practices.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities.
