At Serco we are looking to recruit for Day and Shift Technicians to join their Satellite Communications Teams at TCS Oakhanger in Bordon, working on behalf of the US Space Force. 

The TCS contract falls under Serco’s Space and Security division. The Technician role is to configure for real time support and operate a variety of satellite ground and communication systems. The role also carries out performance of routine maintenance, system checks and tests, and troubleshooting / rectification. The Day Technicians will work Monday-Friday and the Shift Technicians will follow a rotational Shift Pattern member of one of the four site shifts.

 

The role will suit someone with experience working in a technical role dealing with testing and problem resolution. This is a multi-discipline role covering Electronics, Electrical, IT, Mechanical & RF (Radio Frequency). Full training will be provided, mentorship and support will also be provided for the successful candidate with a desire to learn new skills and become an integral part of the team.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

Reporting to the Technical Delivery Manager or Operations Manager  Comply with Serco’s Management Systems and USSF policies / procedures Configuration and error free real time operation of a variety of satellite ground and communication systems. Performance of routine maintenance, system checks and tests, and fault troubleshooting / rectification. Once fully certified, will act as senior person in operational areas when required, and report all events to the Operations Manager. Engage in technical discussions with stakeholders (US operations management) and Serco management teams on site issues Shift Technicians will work a pattern of -hour shifts. They will join their shift after initial Operator Training and certification of Operator Position Day Technician, when fully trained and certified, to participate in a one in three weekly call-out rota assisting with uninterrupted /7 operations along with other department members Carry out Document Reviews, Risk Assessments and Planned General Inspections as required. Opportunity for overtime/TOIL will become available once fully certified. Assist with training of new hires

 

What you’ll need to do the role:

Ability to achieve and maintain Security Clearance GCSE Grade C Maths and English Electronic Engineering BTEC level 3 diploma(Access to further learning via our learning and development programs) Willing to complete CompTIA Security+ certification as per site requirements of which training, learning and development will be provided for you to pass the certification. Good knowledge Microsoft Office packages. Willing to become Crypto Authorised if required; training provided. Willing to become a rescue climber; training provided.
